~• Sixth child of Dr. Johannes and Maria:
(+ 12 ) Member of the 2nd generation in America; one of the sons who did not go to Nova Scotia at the great evacuation after the revolution (1783). Seems to have been (quietly?) loyal to the Crown. Did not serve in any capacity during the War, probably due to his age; no record of service to either side. A daughter Elizabeth married one of his van Beuren nephews , the son of Dr. James (Jacobus) van Beuren. To confuse matters more: This nephew, the son of his brother Dr. James was named Mykel...
Lived near New Brunswick, NJ probably from the time of his marriage until 1756 or 1757, when he returned to New York. He was a cordwainer and was made a freeman of the city Oct. 29, 1765 (N.Y. Hist Soc. Col., 1885, p. 212)
11 children
Michiel Van Beuren, bap. Jan. i, 1723. He was a Cordwainer in the city of New York, and admitted a Freeman of the city in 1765. His wife's name was Jannetje Hendricks.
There was perhaps another child who died October 10, 1769 as an infant . Or, alternatively, it was one of the baptized children who died (source: Burial Record of the Collegiate Dutch Reformed Church, beginning 1726, handwritten transcription; online) http://interactive.ancestry.ca/6961/42037_2421401696_0491-00115/143...
