About Dr. Samuel Mühsam

Born on May 22, 1837 in Landsberg, Upper Silesia. Studied classical philology in Breslau, and obtained his doctorate in 1864 at the University of Leipzig, then served as rabbi in Postelberg, Znojmo and Bisenz. From 1877 until his death on February 20, 1907 he was Rabbi of the Jewish Community in Graz. The construction of the old synagogue in Graz is particularly due to his commitment to procure the necessary funds.
