About Dr. Stefan Edler von Licht

Robert Penlington sourced translation: Kitzbüheler Bote 9.6.1912 2nd page Town and County Dr. Stefan Licht + On March 4th Dr. Stefan Licht died at an age of 72. The notice has caused great sympathy in Kitzbühel not only because he had been one of the oldest and most faithful guests. Dr. Licht, who was born in Brünn in the year 1860 worked as a lawyer and belonged over more than 20 years as a delegate of his hometown to the deutschfreiheitliche (German/liberal) party and after the overthrow (revolution ?) for a short time to the Council of State. Finally he was president of the Pensionsanstalt für Angestellte (?). In the year 1905 Dr. Licht came to Kitzbühel for the first time and choose spontaneously this town as his permanent summer resort. After a few years he decided to build one-family Villa (now Pension / Villa Licht). Dr. Licht was an enthusiastic nature lover who adored the landscape around Kitzbühel more than any other place. He never missed a single nice summer day for a long walk and soon the appearance of this huge man who was accompanied by his faithful black poodle on his way trough forests and hills became a well known and typical picture in that pre-war summer in Kitzbühel. His house was the meeting place for those within the highest echelons of Viennese society and many of his friends became acquainted with Kitzbühel through him. During the war Dr. Licht lost his wife and after his only son died before him he did not return to Kitzbühel as often, being reminded of painful memories. Still he spent his days in admirable physical and mental fitness until his life was taken by a malicious illness. Kitzbühel and many of its inhabitants lost a good friend and an counsel who always was ready to help. Dr. C. von Buschmann.
