Isidor was subsequently divorced from his first wife and married a second time. Information based on original documents in archives of close family descendants, including a civil marriage certificate dated 19 March 1921, Wien, for Dr. Isidor POLLITZER & Bertha POHL in which the groom is described as "gerichtlich getrennt"- officially separated - while the bride is noted as "ledig" - single.

Marked as "mosäisch" - Jewish - on this paper (his wife Bertha is marked as "konfessionslos" - i.e. being of no particular religion), Isidor apparently subsequently converted to the Catholic faith on 10 March 1944, Wien (see below).

Witnesses: Dr. Johann POLLITZER, "Rechtsanwalt" - lawyer - & Hugo POLLITZER, "Prokurist".

According to POLLITZER descendants, despite all endeavours undertaken by his devoted non-Jewish wife Berta, Isidor was deported to Theresienstadt at some point (N.B. this may have been as late as 1944, as a later document of marriage - interestingly now noting him previously as being single though this is clearly not accurate - shows his actual Catholic christening date as cited above). He somehow survived his incarceration there (N.B. no listing of him yet found on even lists of survivors) and eventually returned to Vienna, though a broken man (cf. historical correspondence in family files).

This myth now corrected following a thorough appraisal of a historical letter written by "Illo", in which he describes how he was arrested by the Gestapo and imprisoned for three weeks, after which he suffered a stroke. His devoted wife Berta somehow managed to arrange for him to be admitted to hospital, where he remained for 17 months apparently no longer noticed by the authorities. It was his brother Hugo who was deported to Theresienstadt but managed to survive (though for not very long after the end of conflict) - this now added to that profile.

Death certificate in family archives gives DOD as 21 Feb 1948. He died at home in the couple's appartment at Wien I, Elisabethstrasse 13.
