A Patriot of the American Revolution for VIRGINIA with the rank of Private. DAR Ancestor #: A057112
A typed summary states that Holland served five years and six months as a private part of the time in the company of Cap. Handy under Colonels Henry Lee and William Washington. It is likely that the applicant recalled hearing Drury Holland speak of Col. William Washington rather than Gen. George Washington.
The application included a copy of a bond signed by Drury Holland and Elijah Turner of Bedford County on 26 Dec 1785 for the marriage of Holland to Sally Turner.
