Drusilla H. Nims

-1800 Born the ninth of ten children born to Lot Hillman, (John3-John2-John1)(1758-1805) & Lovey Luce (1760-?). Her siblings were (married names) Hannah Thayer, Prudence Dwight, Jemima Keys, John, Presbury, Reuben, Justin, Sally Vincent, Eleaxer, herself, & Arad Hillman. -1820, Feb. 11, mar. John Nims, she was "of Conway". -1850 Census Res Colrain, 52 yrs, res w Betsy C. 23yrs., Diontha[sic] 19, Caroline M. 16, Lucy I. 14. -1855 Census rs Shelburne, 55yrs, res w Betsy 28m Caroline M. 21, Isabella L. 18, and 4 others who are machinist and cutters- prob boarders. -1865 MA State Census 66yrs, res w son in law Silas Hunter 31 a cutter, dau Caroline M. 30, Flora B. Hunter 5 b Michigan, and Polly W Nims 44. -1867 - See son John Allen Nims for copy of pension file.

At this time linked to the husband the history books have her linked to, that is John Nims IV (1795 - 1836)-Old Cem 01 Buckland in Buckland; she lies buried next to John Nims (1797 - 1837) Arms Cem Shelburne Falls d. June 29, 1837 Æ 40 yrs. Obviously, more research is necessary.

NIMS, John, son of John (1748-1823) and Betsey Rice (1751-1842); b. Apr 21, 1795 in Buckland; sett. Buckland, at the Falls; d. Aug 30, 1836 (Sheldon's Hist. Deerfield) or Sept 1, 1836 (Ch. Rec.) He m. Feb. 11, 1820, Drucilla Hillman of Conway; she was b. Nov. 11, 1799; d. in Shelburne, June 18, 1871. Lists 8 children.

i Mary "Polly" Wilson, b. Feb 28, 1821; m. June 9, 1869, John E. Kidder of Amherst; m. (2) Jan. 11, 1882, James Lincoln of Sunderland. Is 44 yr old on 1865 MA state census residing with bro in law, Silas Hunter and family.

ii Silas, b. 1823, m. Apr 18, 1847, H. Augusta Miller, pr. a widow. He d. in the army, July 28, 1862; she m. (2) Oct. 5, 1865, Franklin Ware; had 1. Francis, b. Jan. 20, 1848.

iii Electa, b. Apr. 1825; d. Mar 29, 1856

iv Betsey E., b. Oct 15, 1827; m. Aug. 25, 1858, James Sprague of Buckland; d. Mar 2, 1871

v John Allen, b. Jan. 24 1830, in Buckland; m. Adaline Corser; d. from hardships in the war, Jan 27, 1866.

vi Diantha, b. Sept. 13, 1832; m. Oct 12, 1853, Alfred Rugg of Charlemont; d. Oct. 26, 1854.

vii Caroline M., b. Jan. 21, 1835; m. Charles Hunter; d. Apr. 14, 1875. On 1865 MA State census res. Shelburne, with husb Silas, 31 a cutter b. MA; dtr Flora B. Hunter, 5, b. Michigan; also her mother Dusilla is 66 and sister Polly W. Nims, 44.

viii Belle L., b. July 29, 1837; m. Dec 9, 1862, Horace Dickinson Dana of Amherst. On 1850 Fed census she is Lucy 14 yrs.; 1855 MA state census as Isabella L. is 18 yrs. (In probate rec. the name of Belle L. is given as "Lucy I." -perhaps Isabell. Note: aka Belle Lucy Nims Genealogy, 7 Gen of Nims Family #134(10)8.
