Duane's love of farming and raising cattle are reflected in his life's pastimes, showing Angus cattle in the 40's, either at the Nothern Wisconsin State Fair - Chippewa Falls, at the Minnesota State fair and several other county fairs. He owned a 230 acre farm just north of River Falls where he raised a variety of feedlot cattle, which eventually led to being station manager for the St. Croix Valley Bull Testing Station for the past 16 years. Duane was honored, just this past weekend, with a dinner at the Coachman in Baldwin, for his outstanding contributions to the Beef industry, by the Board of the Minnesota and Wisconsin Beef Improvement Association. Duane's other passion was sports, He lettered in Basketball and Baseball but loved to watch Football. He also tried Boxing until his first bloody nose! For several years, he sponsored "Paulson's Dressed Beef" a youth baseball team where several of the local boys participated in the Stars of Tomorrow baseball program. He loved to attend the games and tournaments held in La Crosse, WI. His team took First Place in many Tournaments. He also loved music, he played trumpet in high school, so of course he enjoyed big band music and marching band music. Duane is remembered for his smile, sense of humor and story telling and life's lessons of patience, tolerance, respect and understanding of others and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. The Paulson family was asked late last night if we could add a special song for Duane today and they accepted. Phil Kuss, a coach for Paulson's Dressed Beef presented Laurine with a autographed baseball by Nolan Ryan last night. His son Richard Kuss was a member of Duane's baseball team would like to sing "Take me out to the Ballgame".
