About Dudley James "Douglas" Spencer
Known as DJ.
Had diabetes. Died after gangrene set in his toe and doctors had to amputate his leg.
Born near Ironston, Kentucky and came to Kansas in 1857 with his father, H.K. He grew to manhood on the Spencer ranch southeast of Pleasanton, moving to the present home in 1876. In 1878 he married Nancy Belle Hand, who died in 1937.

Dudley J. Spencer Rites Tuesday----Resident of Linton Neighborhood Died in Main St Hospital
-Dudley J. Spencer, 88-year-old resident of the Linton neighborhood, died at eleven o'clock Saturday at the Main Street hospital following a foot operation when he was taken there August 3. He is survived by one daughter and four sons.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the Fairmount Church conducted by the Rev. Clyde Speaks. A quartet composing of Mrs. Albert Ham, Mrs. Charles Holmes, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gifford sang "Higher Grounds" and "No Disappointment in Heaven" accompanied by Mrs. O. V. Washler at the piano.
Pallbearers were Frank Irvin, William Cooper, Henry Harbison, Bray Thomas, Charles Atkinson and Herbert Page. Interment was in the family lot at the Littell Cemetery.
