Biographical Summary

Duncan Kirkpatrick - Fought beside William Wallace "The Great Patriot", his cousin, and was also a constant companion. He was also a cousin of Robert the Bruce. Some have recorded his name as Sir Humphrey Kirkpatrick , and his wife as Idonia, who were named in the petition by his brother Roger dated 12th December, A.D. 1322, asking King Edward II for a safe conduct and protection within the realm of England. He appears to have outlived these troubled times,as King Robert the Bruce grants Duncan and his wife the lands of Torthorwald in 1326. Sadly, due to a lack of available records, the lineage of the Torthorwald branch remains uncertain.
