Notes from his eulogy

[May 23, 1982, Department of the Army, headquarters 124th US Army Reserve Command, Fort Lawton, Washington ]
Attended University in Texas. Entered Army 1942. Served with the 100th Infantry in France. Platoon leader of the 399th Infantry Regt., awarded the Bronze Star Medal December 8, 1944. Awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action. Awarded the Purple Heart and a second Bronze Star for his actions on March 8, 1945 at Reyerville, France where he was wounded in the chest by an enemy grenade.
After WWII he held various jobs, including service with the 27th Infantry "Wolfhound" Regiment in Hawaii. Advisor to the Republic of Korea Army.
At the time of his retirement in 1963 he was the Public Affairs Officer with the Headquarters of the US Army in Hawaii.
He also held the Army Commendation Medal, the WWII Victory Medal, the Army Occupation Medal and service campaign medals.
After his retirement he was with the Federal Civil Service and served as the Operations Planning Officer with the G3 staff of the US Army Corps at Fort Lawton, Washington.
He joined the US Army Reserve and continued to work as an Operations Officer with the G3 staff of the 124th Command.
He retired in 1980. He was awarded the Commander's Award for Civilian Service.
