Death of Empire District Plant Employee Attributed to Heart Attack—Found by Wife.
Galena, Kan., June 10.—Earl G. Kohl, 57 years old, was found dead in bed at about 6:30 o’clock this morning at his home, 821 Chicago avenue. Death was attributed to a heart attack by his attending physician. It was estimated he had been dead about three hours when found by his wife when she awakened.
Mr. Kohl had suffered from a heart ailment for some time but had worked yesterday at the Empire District Electric Company plant at Riverton, where he was employed as an oiler on a crane by the Long Construction Company.
Born in Lisbon, Iowa, Mr. Kohl came to Galena when a child and had resided here approximately 50 years. For many years he was employed as a machinist in the mining district.
He was a member of the school board approximately 10 years and was a member of the Sixth Street Baptist Church.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Myrtle Kohl; his father, Oliver Kohl of Galena; a son Earl Kohl Jr., of Midwest City, Okla., three daughters, Mrs. Earlene Paradee of Modesto, Calif., Mrs. Twyla Nell Enright of Albuquerque, N. M., and Mrs. Eula Marie Jackson of Norwalk, Calif.; three brothers, Lawrence Kohl of Midwest City, Okla., and Harold Kohl and Oliver Kohl Jr., of Tacoma, Wash.; two sisters, Mrs. Leona Hiatt and Mrs. June Tamms of San Diego, Calif., and 12 grandchildren.
