OBITUARY FROM THE RED LAKE CO., GAZETTE, MAY 1983 EARL ROSE

Earl E. Rose, age 67, of Red Lake Falls, died Monday (May 2, 1983) at Riverview Hospital in Crookston. Funeral services were Thursday (May 5) in St. John's Lutheran Church, Red Lake Falls, with the Rev. Roger E. Raebel officiating. Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery, Red Lake Falls.

Earl was born June 22, 1915, in Ludyard Township, IA. He had lived near Lemmon, SD, and as a boy was adopted by Ferdinand and Mina (Rose)Rose and moved to Red Lake Falls. He had lived at Moorhead and then returned to Red Lake Falls in 1946. He married Melba Rogge June 22, 1940, in St. John's Lutheran Church, Red Lake Falls. During World War II he was employed by Northwest Airlines, working in Minneapolis and Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. He was an electronic service and repairman and had worked for Kaiser Savard, Northwest Airlines, R & D Electric and has worked for Wilcox Furniture and Appliance Co., since September of 1956. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, a choir member and was Sunday school superintendent for 30 years. He was very active in amateur radio and his call letters were WODFX and was active in Quarter Century Wireless Association, Inc., Minnesota Amateur Radio Weather Net, Northwest Minnesota Amateur Radio Club and the American Radio Relay League, Inc.

He is survived by his wife, Melba of Red Lake Falls; one son, Gene of Midland, MI; two daughters, Virginia (Mrs. Lewis) Struthers of Parkers Prairie, and Carol (Mrs. Timothy) Carriere of Red Lake Falls; eight grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Alvina (Rose) Pederson of Hawthorne CA; Mrs. Phil (Esther Rose) Shute of Everett, WA; Caroline Weller of Minneapolis; and Mrs. Elsie Weiler Pearson Buchmiller of Winona, MN; two brothers, William Weiler of Lamberton and Laurence Weiler of Winnebago and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his natural parents (Ida and Sebastian Weiler), his adopted parents (Ferdinand and Mina Rose) and one brother and two sisters
