About Ebenezer Carle
Youngest child of Samuel and Esther (Burbank) Carle, his baptism in Scarborough records not found. He was living directly next door to his brother, Samuel Carle III, in Scarborough, 1790. In 1800, he was residing in Buxton, Maine. On 27 Dec 1804, he was married in Scarborough to a second wife, Hannah Hanscom (b. 1769). Not seen subsequently.
He was possibly the Ebenezer Carll who served as a private in Capt Silas Burbank's Company, September through December, 1777, but that may have been his cousin Ebenezer (1757-1851) [see below]. However, this Ebenezer is listed with Samuel Carle III.
Scarborough, Maine, 1790: EBEN'R CARL, 1 adult male; 1 adult female; 1 son under age 16; 2 daughters -- directly next to Samuel Carle III
Buxton, Maine, 1800: EBENZER CARLL, 1 male age 26-45; 1 female age 26-45; 1 son age 10-16; 5 daughters under the age of 10
PLEASE NOTE: he should not be confused with his first cousin, Ebenezer Carle (1757-1851) [son of Robert and Rhoda Carle] who is also listed in the 1790 census of Scarborough but later, in the 1800 census of Phillipsburgh [Hollis].
