The youngest child of Eugene Meyer and his wife. He has seven siblings in all. He was 28 years old in 1912 and had been married for 2½ years. He and his wife had a year-old daughter. Meyer was a graduate of Cornell University, where he took his degree as a Mechanical Engineer. His discovery of a method to measure the velocity of flame propagation in gasoline engines became a standard technique. After his graduation from college he joined his brother in business in Wall Street and became vice president of the Braden Copper Company of NYC. A resident of New York City, Mr Meyer boarded the Titanic at Cherbourg as a first class passenger (PC 17604, £82 3s 5d) together with his wife Leila Meyer. Meyer was described as having a gentle and pleasing personality as well as a manly, straightforward manner. Mr Meyer perished in the disaster. His body, if recovered, was never identified.
