About Eduardo Gullas
Eduardo "Eddie" Rivera Gullas Sr. was a Filipino politician from Cebu, Philippines. He was born to Vicente and Josefina "Inday Pining" Gullas, the founders of the University of the Visayas (UV). Later in life, he decided to break away from his family's entrepreneurial roots and pursued politics. He ran against Antonio "Tony" Cuenco for congressman of then 3rd district of Cebu in the infamous 1969 election, in which he won. He kept his position until 1972. When the then-governor of Cebu, Osmundo Rama ran against the Marcos-led Nacionalista party in 1976, president Marcos himself appointed Gullas as governor, a position he kept up until the EDSA revolution in 1986. Since then, he pursued other projects, political or otherwise.
He currently serves as the president of the University of the Visayas, as well as the charter of Cebu Normal University (CNU) and Cebu Technological University (CTU).
