About Edward Borr

Of Ballindoolan, King's County.

Of Park, Kinnegad - 'The Family of Bor of Holland and Ireland' in 'Miscellanea Genealogica et Heraldica'.

Burke's Genealogical and Heraldic History of the Landed Gentry of Ireland (1899) spells the surname Borr and says Edward was of New Park, Co. Meath. Edward is referred to in the death notice of his daughter Louisa as "the late Edward Bor, of New Park, county Meath" - Dublin Evening Mail, 21 Dec. 1846.

Of Borfield, Co. Meath, when marrying in 1770 - Betham's Genealogical Abstracts. Prerogative Marr. Lics. (Phillips Mss.) B. 1734-1800.

"Edward Bor, of New Park, Co. Meath, who died in 1782, married first Jane, daughter and heiress of William Peacock, of Tinny Park, King's County, by whom he had an only child (the above) [reference to gravestone transcribed], Jane Peacock Bor, who married, 1788, William Francis Reade, of Woodpark, Co. Galway. He married secondly, 1770, Elizabeth, daughter of Henry Purdon, and had an only child, Elizabeth, who married, 1796, Rev. John Digby. Curiously enough, this Rev. John Digby married in 1818 another Elizabeth Bor, she being a daughter of Christopher Bor, of Ballindoolan, King's Co., and first cousin to her predecessor" - Association for the Preservation of the Memorials of the Dead in Ireland: journal for the year 1911, p. 363. However, A genealogical and heraldic dictionary of the landed gentry of Ireland, by Sir Bernard Burke, Miscellanea Genealogica Et Heraldica: Fourth Series, seems to establish that Elizabeth was not an only child but had sisters Catherine (Charlotte) and Louisa.

Humphry Bor, son of Edward, is mentioned as alive in Registry of Deeds no. 228141. His mother is not known.
