• "Edward Cage that I show as a parent of John F. Cage in incorrect. This information has been passed around the internet for years. Edward Cage came to James City and had a house there for about 8 years. None of his family were in VA with him. He was here on tobacco business. Edward Cage was the grandfather of John F. Cage but they never came in contact with each other in America as John F. Cage was in Charles County, MD. Edward Cage returned to England and died there in 1639. The actual father of John F. Cage was John Cage of England who was married to Mary de Clifford in 1610 in London, England. This John Cage was a son of Edward Cage who was the grandfather of John F. Cage. This John Cage was born in Suffolk Co., England on 23 Jan 1582/83 and died at Fretheme, Glostershire England on 1 Aug. 1643. Had Edward Cage been the father of John F. Cage, Edward's wife would have been 67 years old and this would have been impossible ... (1)
