Edward Hastings, 1st and last Baron Hastings of Loughborough was born circa 1520.1 He was the son of George Hastings, 1st Earl of Huntingdon and Lady Anne Stafford.1 He married Joan Harrington, daughter of John Harrington, circa 1544.1 He died on 5 March 1571/72, without legitimate issue.1

He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Leicestershire from February 1522/23 to March 1522/23.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Leicester between 1545 and 1547.1 He was appointed Knight in 1547.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Leicestershire between 1547 and 1552.1 He held the office of Sheriff of Leicestershire from 1550 to 1551.1 He held the office of Sheriff of Warwickshire from 1550 to 1551.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Middlesex between 1553 and 1555.1 He was Master of the Horse to Queen Mary between 1553 and 1557.1 He was appointed Knight, Order of the Garter (K.G.) in 1555.1 He held the office of Chamberlain to the Household from 1557 to 1558.1 He was created 1st Baron Hastings of Loughborough [England] on 19 January 1557/58.1
