About Edward Walter Hay
Pioneer Pathways -- Rural Wetaskiwin published by Wetaskiwin Circle 8 Historical Society and Printed by Co-op Press Ltd. in 1981. Edward Hay Family Page 117 by Edward Hay
I was born and raised in the Battle River District, son of Henry Hay, and worked on the farm until 1956. I liked sports very much, hockey, softball, and baseball. My older brother Ray was pitcher, and I was catcher. Most memborable was two home runs in one game at Hobbema.
In 1957 I married Muriel Malmas, moved to part of NW 11-45-23-W4, built a new home, barn and garage in the next couple of years and planted trees. Our son, Douglas, was born September 25, 1958; daughter, Teresa, January 23, 1962; and daughter, Sheila, November 4, 1963.
They all attended Rosebrier School, and then went to Wetaskiwin Composite High School. Douglas played all of his hockey career from Pee-Wee to Midget B. Skiing turned out to be his greatest sport. He is now working for AGT, has been for the last three years, and likes it very much.
Teresa is taking her Grade Twelve in Wetaskiwin after her memorable days at Rosebrier winning an athletic award and most deserving academic award.
Sheila is taking her Grade Eleven in Wetaskiwin after memorable days at Rosebrier receiving three academic awards. Both daughters enjoy skiing as a pastime.
I have been employed by Canada Packers (Shur Grain) for fifteen years and my wife, Muriel, is working at Rose Haven in Camrose.
