About Edward Trevor Lancaster Dawson
Hi Michael, more info from RAFCOMMANDS.COM ,from a few posts on site I have pieced together the following info, Pilot Edward Trevor Dawson took off from RAF Shawbury at 3:40 AM on 3rd April 1943 in an Oxford Mk1 aircraft serial no. DF645 of 11 (P) AFU it crashed 1 mile North of Shawbury, Sgt Edward T Dawson died shortly after being admitted to RAF Cosford Hospital at 17:00 hrs. It would appear that your ancestor was involved in the training of gunners ,wireless ops ,navigators etc for bombers, as No.11 (P) AFU was a training squadron, the (P) is for Pilot and AFU is Advanced Flying Unit.

Kenneth William Hill 6/6/2014 Hi Michael, thank you for your reply,I also have some info for you that I found on your ancestor,I found this on RAFCOMMANDS.COM in a thread relating to Shropshires Casualties And Aircraft Casualties, I have copied and pasted the relevant part as follows:- Sgt Edward Trevor Dawson (1504557), RAFVR, aged 20 and is buried in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne Cemetery. Son of Edward Philipson Dawson and Gertrude Mabel Dawson, of West Denton . I hope this helps to resolve the mystery of this person in your family tree. and should provide enough info to aid you in further research.
