About Edward T. Maxey, Jr.
Early family history says that the Maxeys came from France and were Huguenots, but later research indicates that they came from England. In either case the immigrant, Edward Maxey, came from Kent County, England, in 1709, and was one of the founders of Manakin County, Virginia, where many Huguenots settled.
Elward also raised two boys, William and James Gates, sons of John Gates.
Doris Waddell's genealogy claims he died in 1730.
