About Edward Lee Michl, Sr.
Edward L. "Eddie" Michl age 83 passed away Sunday, October 4, 2015 at his home in rural Newton.
Eddie was born on April 11, 1932 in Jasper County, the son of Ed and Ethel (Foltz) Michl. On Sept. 22, 1951, Eddie married Carolyn Jean Romack. She preceded him in death on Jan. 30, 2014.
His parents; brothers, Raymond, Gerald "Preach," and Reese Michl and sisters, Faye Waterstradt and Ruby Kraft also preceded him in death.
Survivors include his children, Leslie Susan Michl and husband, Roger Taube, Gary Lee (Debbie) Michl, Patti Jo (Wayne) Meinhart and Edward Lee Michl Jr.; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Connie Hall and sister-in-law, Betty Henderson.
In addition to being a life-long farmer, Eddie owned the Rose Hill Grocery Store, worked for Adkins & Dufrain Implement, and later the Jasper County Highway Department. He then joined the First National Bank of Newton retiring after 30 years of service as vice-president.
His memberships include the Falmouth Church of Christ, 50-year member of Newton Masonic Lodge No. 216 AF & AM, Jasper County Shrine Club. Eddie served as the Wade Township Supervisor and Precinct Committeeman for the Jasper County Democratic Party.
