About Edward Richardson

He was the 6th child born to Maggie and Clell. All the 9 children were born in and around Irvine KY. Edward was a WWII veteran....he served in a highly secretive mission in the Figi Islands during the war. The mail sent home was highly censored, because of his special work. Margie his sister, said the only clue they had to his location, was in one letter that made it thru the censoring, Edward asked how his little doggy Figi was doing? By this, they finally knew his secret location......of course, he had no dog at all and certainly none named Figi....The Richardson clan later moved to Frankfort, a few of them including Edward and Bonnie (whom he married after the war) were given "lots" on Richardson Lane by Clell and Maggie, to build homes on, which they did. Later sold their home and went towards Louisville KY for work. Edward and Bonnie had two girls, Phyllis Sharon and Sheila Martine. Sheila bore a son, Jeremy Catlett, whom Bonnie and Edward ended up raising. Uncle Edward worked at Hull Dobbs as a body man, along with his brother Louis for several years. Sherman Jr remembers uncle Edward moving to Bowling Green KY and opening his own body shop around 1958-60. Edward lived near Louisville most of his life, but before retiring, he moved to McDonald Road in Lawrenceburg, KY on a farm, which he dearly loved........the garden, had horses, tractor, raising anything from flowers to food. He sold the farm and moved to places around Louisville again........he and Bonnie had raised their only grandson Jeremy. Their lives came to a tragic end on Aug 27, 1990, when Jeremy Catlett entered their bedrooms and shot them to death in their beds, though evidence showed that uncle Edward woke long enough to stand up and hold his hands out, trying to block the assailant's bullet that entered his chest and killed him.........great sorrow for the entire family. Jeremy has been serving time in prison, none of the family knows currently, if he got "out" on probation for these crimes or not. (submitted by Linda McElwain 3/28/09) In Nov, 2022, I got hold of his daughters, Phyllis and Sheila, who live in Brandenburg, Ky currently. I was told that Jeremy did get out of prison, is currently living in Louisville, has never married or had children. This is an update info, by Linda Gillis Sherwood/McElwain
