About Louis Richardson

Louis was the first son of Maggie and Clell Richardson...so he became the oldest of 9. All I can remember about uncle Louis was chickens and dogs, which he both loved. Every time we went to see him, he had all kinds of dogs and many banty chickens and roosters. He stayed outside a lot. He moved to Florida and worked as a guard on a military base, somewhere near the tip of Florida, after leaving his wife Helen and children. In 1955-56 he moved to Brooksville,Florida, near his parents for a short while. He worked at a body shop there too. He bore a great resemblance to "Tennessee Ernie Ford", the singer and movie star. He worked as a "auto body man" on cars in Louisville, till he retired........I'm thinking the name of the garage was "Hull Dobbs". He also loved to collect guns. He married the mother of his children................first there was Grace Riddle, whom he had a child named "Wanda Lee" by. They divorced and he married Helen Schott, whom he had a set of twins (Jeannette and Jimmy) and Virginia Lee. Sherman Jr Richardson remembered staying with Louis and Nan and having to go to work with them, cause they couldn't leave him all day by himself. He remembered a "glove factory" in Louisville, where Nan sewed and actually aunt Eva worked there too, sorting the gloves. Uncle Louis left Helen and children, while his children were small and lived with Nan Sheets till his death in Beattyville, Ky where they owned a house and small farm. He died in his back yard.........apparently of a massive heart attack. We all went to the funeral. Nan didn't live but a couple of years, after he died. Info submitted by Linda Gillis Sherwood McElwain 1/2014.
