9. Thomas J.Jr.SHAW b:1863 in Lansdowne, Leeds, Ontario

Edward Shaw was third generation in Canada. His grandfather William (1786-abt 1865) left Ireland in 1819 with his wife Mary (Waldron) and three children. Mary got sick and died on the trip and didn't make it to their new home. Thomas was one of the children. Thomas (1816-1901) was born in Ireland, died in Canada. He met and married Mary (Davis) (1818-1886) daughter of Edward William & Mary (Oaks) Davis

Thomas’s son Edward was their third of 11 children, was born in Leeds, ON, ca. He was married to his first wife Martha Boulton daughter of John & Alice (Colborne), from 1868 to 1873. Martha died soon after their third child died in 1873.

1)Thomas H Shaw (1869-1887) 2)Mary Shaw (1871-1872) 3)John W Shaw (1872-1873)

Thomas H. was 4 when his mother died the only child that lived. Not sure what happened, he died at the age of 17.

Shortly after Edward first wife Martha’s death he met and married Almedia McNish. She was the daughter of Perequrine McNish & Hannah (Everts) McNish both of Glengarry Co, Ontario, Canada area. Almedia (McNish) Shaw was their third child of six born in Ontario, Canada. She was mother of 12 out of Edwards 15 children.

Edward and Almedia are both buried in a small cemetery at the south end of Gananoque Lake (Ontario), a mile or so from Marble Rock. Also his first wife (Martha Boulton) is also buried there along with their son

In the late 1800’s after the Grand Trunk Railway was constructed, it opened up the west for settlement. The Canadian government was very anxious to populate the west so they gave free land to all who applied. Like a lot of other Canadians the Shaw’s nearly all went west. This was true for a good part of Edward and Almedia’s children.

William stayed in Gananoque and had a farm near the cemetery.

Minnie (Hannah Almedia) moved to Regina, Division No. 6, Saskatchewan, Canada rented an apartment or room there. As soon as her sister Georgina was old enough she joined Minnie in Regina, ca living there until she met and married Emil Hermann. After her sister Georgina left she met and got married herself. She was married twice Mr. Newman, and later Herbert Conway. She spent her later years in Victoria, British Columbia.

As was said when Georgina was old enough she moved to Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada living with Minnie. Sometime before 1915 Georgina met Emil Hermann. He lived nearby with his parent and family. Emil Hermann and his parent’s had immigrated as political refugees from Prussia in 1909 on board the Kronprinz Wilhelm from port Breman arriving at Ellis island June 2, 1909.

That part of Europe was very unstable when they left; which is now part of eastern Germany. His parents stayed a short time in Saskatchewan, Canada near Regina. From there they moved to the United States all the while making their way westward ending up in Wisconsin. They came to the United States sometime on or after 1915 when their son married Mary “Georgina” Shaw in the Regina Saskatchewan, Canada area.

From there Georgina and Emil Hermann came to the United States settling in Rice Lake, WI where Emil bought property and built their family farm all the time waiting for the first blessed event of their first child. That day came on January 21, 1916 when Loine Moulten Hermann was born They were blessed with a total of eight.Beside Loine, they had Lawrence F Hermann; Lee Edward Hermann; Grace Ragina (Hermann)Beck; Evelyn G. Randall; Edna Patricia (Hermann) Keebaugh; Betty J. (Hermann) Lemke Drexel Marshal Hermann. From them they have been blessed with may descendants through their children.

Edward Alden “Eddie” Shaw ended up in Alberta, ca.

Merrick and his wife Lottie went across the St. Lawrence River in 1898 and settled on a farm in NY only about 15 miles from his home in Leeds, Ontario.

Robert Bruce stayed and inherited the farm at Marble Rock.

Verner lived in Manitoba
