- He was a Theologian. Studied in Holland, England and the Cape. He was a missionary in Ceylon, where he met his second wife.He wrote a 'best seller' called.'.'t Merkwaardig Verhaal van MC Vos'...which has been reprinted several times. The book is a special insight to life in the Cape, South Africa in 1770-1810...It tells about MC Vos, his multiple travels to the East, Holland, England between 1770 and 1810, his uphill battle with the authorities in the Cape Colony, his clash with the church on 'saving souls of the Slaves', and his everyday life in Tulbagh. It also mentions the building of the beautiful Dutch Reformed Church (Historic) which still exists today. He is buried in the centre of the church in honour of his achievements to the local community.
