About Eleanor (O'Callaghan) Bogle

In 1914, Eleanor graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a B.A. degree in the Classics (Ancient Greek and Latin literature).

Her daughter Mary relayed that she was talkative and shared charming stories about her family life growing-up in Norway Michigan; and also lectured about literature.

Mary said Eleanor "loved to dance" and attended dances as a young lady as was the custom in that era. At university, she performed the modern Greek-revival dance style, which was very popular at that time, where girls danced as a group wearing garlands of flowers in their hair and white dresses reminiscent of Druidic Grecian-inspired attire.

In 1918 the newspapers reported vast numbers of people who were dying in the great flu epidemic back east. By 1919, Eleanor's younger sister Eileen caught the flu and died when she was only 20 years old.

Eleanor travel to the Arizona territory frontier where she accepted a position to teach ancient Latin. She traveled west by train and stagecoach to the Globe region in the territory of Arizona, which was the frontier of the day and enjoying an explosion in population (it was a town larger than Los Angeles) and was in need of teachers.

Within the year, in 1919, Eleanor married J.F. Bogle who had also followed the boom opportunity to the Arizona frontier.

J.F. Bogle grew-up in Illinois where he admired the new modern technologies of Edison and Tesla after visiting, at age 15, the Chicago World's Fair in 1893 which featured the first large public display of outdoor electric lighting for the first time in human history. There were no degrees in electrical engineering at that time, as it was a new field, so he apprenticed to become a de facto electrical engineer and was eventually hired by Miami Copper Company to bring electrical power as they industrialized mining ventures in the Globe area.
