Bert Brown Dies; Funeral Held Today

    Eli Bert Brown, prominent Chaffee county rancher, died at 6 o'clock Tuesday evening at his home in Adobe Park after an illness of four years.  Death resulted from a spinal injury which Mr. Brown sustained several years ago. He was 57 years old.
   Funeral services are being held this afternoon at the Stewart chapel, the Rev. S.S. Gerig, pastor of the Baptist church, officiating.  Interment will be in the Poncha Springs cemetery.
   Mr. Brown was born February 25, 1873 in Pittsburg, Kansas, where he lived until fourteen years old.  He was united in marriage February 17, 1896 to Miss Eva A. Fish of Pittsburg.
    Mr. Brown came to Chaffee County first in 1887.  He had made his home here since that time and was one of the most widely known ranchers in this part of the state.
    He is survived by his wife, by two sons, Mearl P. and Willis A. Brown, and by five daughters, Mrs. Grace W. Surber, Mrs. Gladys Rawlings, Mrs. Alberta E. Bennett, and June I and Mary A. Brown all of Salida. 
   He is also survived by three grandchildren, Edwin and Catherine Brown, children of Mearl Brown, and Eli George Bennett.   Mrs. Grace Gessert of Salida is a cousin of Mr. Brown. Another cousin, Clarance Brown of Monarch, Utah, is in Salida, having been called here by Mr. Brown's illness and death.
   Mr. Brown was an esteemed member of the Woodmen of the World.
