Eli Hyatt moved to Hyattstown, Maryland with his brothers Jesse (founder of Hyattstown) and Asa, where he built a house. On March 6, 1864 Eli and his wife Mary sold a half acre lot to the Methodist Episcopal Church for the construction of a log building.
