Birth: Nov 12 1832 Marriage: Marriage to: Erik Hansen Romsås Myhre Apr 13 1869
Ringebu Kirke Christening: 2 DEC
Ringebu Kirke Death: Feb 13 1919
Eli's family is connected to the Segelstad farms beginning in the late 1700's. Eli was born on Øvre Segelstad. Her husband Erik purchased Nedre/Nigard Segelstad where they lived for a number of years and were living there at the time of her death. After Erik's death the farm went to a son Gulbrand and then after his death to a daugther Marie. The eldest son Hans had emigrated to America but it was understood that if he returned to Norway he could claim his rightful inheritance. Upon Marie's death there were no more siblings left nor children of these sibling (Gulbrand had three children but was not married and did not live with them and their mother) s. The farm was sold and proceeds and contents were inherited by Han's daughter Eva and son Erik. A number of items were donated to the Maighaugen Museum in Lillehammer. The current owners are descendants of Eli's brother who had sold the farm to Erik and Eli. See brother Østen Gudbrandsen Segelstad.
There is a famous story of a Brendon Segelstad who killed a Colonel George Sinclair (Scottish mercenary) at the Battle of Kringen in 1612. Brendon was living at Øvre Segelstad at the time but I do not believe he and Eli's family are related. They did not acquire the farms until the late 1700's and it is said that Brendon's family no longer have any living ancestor. Berdon son Jørgen's 2nd wife Karen Haldorsdtr. Romsås is a brother to Peder Haldorsen Romsås, Sue's 9th ggrandfather. Colonel George Sinclair is the 1st cousin 10 times removed from Steve Erickson through his 2nd great grandmother Mary Jane St. Clair. He is also very distantly related to another of Sue's Norwegian ancestors through the Skanke line.
So Sue's 2nd Great Grandmother Eli and Steve's 2nd great Grandmother Mary Jane have this connection.

Photo of three farms before one was moved. Segelstadgardene This picture was taken when all three Sail Stages were in a cluster; Nedistuen Segelstad, Nedre Segelstad and rear glimpse a house on Upper Segelstad. A few decades ago, Upper Segelstad moved their houses away from the other two curtains
Regarding transporting for a funeral to the Ringebu church.."Think they used a boat over the laugen before the bridge came. There went an old way up to the liagardan that passed by / through the bystad and the segelstadgardene. There were two roads that they could use. One went after the geilen with the field to segelstad lower on one side and nistuen on others. This one came right beyond the gardstunet to the bystad. The other one went further up, and more straight down the field to the lower side of the road. There is still a gate called kjørkjeleet, and it is said that it is called it since they used that road when they were going to the church in the winter. There was also a road that went about the road trip."
