About Elias Boudinot, III
Father of the distinguished Federal Period statesman of the same name, died six years before the day his son would become celebrated in American history. He was also the father of a famous daughter, the poet-patriot Annis Boudinot Stockton, wife of Richard Stockton, a signer of the Declaration of Independence. The elder Boudinot was a silversmith and merchant of Huguenot ancestry. He had lived in Darby, Pennsylvania beast fifore moving to New Jersey, where he resided in Princeton before finally settling in Elizabeth.
