Revolutionary War Patriot. Moved from Fredericksburg VA to SC. Lived on Broad River in what was Union District after 1785. The revolution was brewing, and was to bring tragedy to the family of Elias Hollingsworth. All the men joined the Rebels, or "Whigs," as they called themselves. Disowned by Friends MM for Revolutionary War service. One story says that Benjamin Hollingsworth (son of Elias) farm lay adjacent to King's Mountain, where the most notable of all the battles in the South occurred, October 7, 1880 (King's Mountain, SC).
