In Chowan Co., NC deed records on Dec. 1702 Will Early with free consent of Eliner my wife to Thomas Gilbert, assignment of mentioned sale.

William Early first came to the Colonies, when George Morris and William Lane, received 2500 acres Rappahannock County, Virginia on July 20,1662 for transporting 50 persons of which, William Earle was one. This was on north side of the river on a great branch of Rappahannock Creek. This was in the same county, where John Beverley had inherited land from his father, Maj. Robert Beverley in 1686. There William Early married Elinor before 1670, when his oldest child, John was born.

William Early and wife, Elinor, removed to Chowan District North Carolina, where: "William Early (sic) of Craven, Palatine, and ye rest of the True and Absolute 1 ORDS PROPRIETORS of Carolina to Coll. Thomas Pollock--Apr. 1697 for ye transportation of 1 person for every 50 acres, 640 acres in Chowan Prect. at ye mouth of Old Town creek, joining the Long Branch with privilege of hunting, hawking, fishing and fowling excerpting 1/2 of all Gold and Siler mines. /s/____Archdale, esquire Governor. Councilors: John Dale, Daniel Akehurst, Francis Toms, Samuel Swann, Henderson Walker, William Glover, Clerk." "On October 1, 1700, William Early of Chowan Precinct bought from Will Hooker for a valuable consideration, 300 acres on the west side of Chowan river in Rockcohock Neck. All houses, orchards, gardens etc. we bind ourselves in the penal sum of 20 #. Reg. October 29, 1700. On March 17, 1701/2, Will Early bought 272 acres west side Chowan River from Richard Booth and his wife Elizabeth. Thomas Marks, and wife Elizabeth to William Early. 150 acres on Deep Run; February 2, 1702/3. Will Early and wife Elinor, to Thomas Gylbyrd . Interest in land; December 1, 1702".

William Early was a tithe collector for St. Paul's Episcopal Church in 1703. On March 27, 1704, Margaret Early, his daughter, is a witnesses to a land deed in Chowan and the next entry on July 4, 1704, when Will Early and wife Elinor, to Jon Beverly, 100 acres lying on the Indian path to Petty Shore. By this document, we know that John Beverley married Margaret Early between these two dates.

On this same date, March 27, 1704, Will Early and wife Elinor, to Henry Sutton, to son-in-law, and our daughter Sarah. 272 acres west side Chowan River. William Early and wife Elinor, to Peter Evans. 255 acres land adjoining Colonel Pollock; September 7, 1706.

No record is found of William Early after this date, he must have died in 1707.

Margaret Early was the daughter of William and Elinor Early, she was born 1678 in Rappahannock County, Virginia. Margaret married John Beverley in Chowan District, North Carolina between March 27, 1704, when she witnessed a deed and when her parents, Will and Elinor Early sold John Beverly 100 acres on July 4, 1704. John Beverley was the son of Maj. Robert Beverly and his first wife, Mary Keeble, born 1675 in Middlesex County, Virginia. His mother died June 1, 1678 and his father married Catherine Hone on March 28, 1678 in Middlesex. After the death of his father, Maj. Robert Beverly, March 15, 1686, John Beverley, orphan age 13, choose his brother, Peter Beverley as his guardian on April 2, 1688. John Beverley named in his father's will dated August 20, 1686: I give unto my sonne John Beverley and to his heirs forever three thousand acres of land part of the Devident of land situate in Rappahannock Countie on both sydes a great runne and commonly called and known by the name of Beverley Parke and adjoining on one part thereof to Buttons Rainge. 2 Aug 1716 John Beverley served on the jury at the court of 1Ords & Terminer, Chowan Precinct.Deed Book F, p 200: In 1720 when John Beverley of Chowan Prect. Sold to David Jones for 28 Sterling money of England-100 acres on the north side of Wickacon Creek , land formerly taken up by William Early in Wickacon Creek and transferred to John Beverley by deed July 1704. John Beverley made his will in Bertie County, North Carolina December 22, 1737 and the will was proven in February Court 1737. "Daniel Hough and Margarett his wife the widow and reelect of John Beverly Deceased...by the Last Will and Testament of John Beverly...his afore id widow was left in possession of two plantations whereon John Beverly her Husband Deceased and John Beverly, eldest son were seated with six hundred and forty acres thereunto and during the time of her natural life and whereas John Beverly and her two sons hath...with the consent of Margaret their Mother, being left in the hands of Thophilus Pugh Gent, to the future benefit and support of Daniel Hough and Margaret.
