U.S. Patent No. 59, recieved October 19, 1836 for a razor case and sharpener.
"3305 JUDGE ELISHA MINER POMEROY, (Simeon, Phinehas, Medad, Joseph, Medad, Eliweed), b. June 11, 1786, (twin) Plainfield, Connecticut; m. (1) 1806, Lydia Matoon; m. (2) Feb. 14, 1853, Abigail Baldwin, b. Dec. 18, 1808, daughter of Horace Baldwin; m. (3) April 9, 1857, Abby Ann Bartholomew, b. March 15, 1832; he d. 1864. Davis's "History of Wallingford and Meriden," says of him: "Elisha Miner Pomeroy, Esq., came into Wallingford a tinner. About the year 1820 he invented his justly celebrated razor strop, which soon became known in every part of the United States. In the manufacture of this article he was prosperous beyond his most sanguine expectations. He was a man of good business talents and enterprise, of easy address and gentlemanly deportment. After his retirement from business he was chosen Judge of the Probate Court and a justice of the peace. In the discharge of the duties of these offices he was eminently well qualified, and his decisions compare favorably with those of any of his predecessors. He reared a large and highly respectable family of children, and died at the advanced age of 78 years at Wallingford."
