About Eliza Feltus Hare
Eliza's baptism (original record viewed online at Irish Genealogy) was in 1836, date unreadable but the previous entry was March 20th and the next one September 11th. The record is for the parish of Urglin in the county of Carlow and she is Eliza Feltus, daughter of Alexander and Edith Adams, abode Rutland, occupation schoolmaster.
The record of her marriage in 1859 to Thomas Hare, in the Church of Carlow, can also be viewed online. It confirms her father, Alexander's, occupation as school master. She is a spinster of full age living in Carlow, while the groom is a sub constable of police living in Bawnmore, County Kilkenny. The witnesses were George Langran and Jane Lemon.
The Brisbane Courier dated 8 October 1896 [online] reported her death: "On the 28th September, at McDougall Street, Milton, Elizabeth Feltius [sic], dearly beloved wife of Thomas Francis Hare, of this city, and third daughter of the late Alexander Adams, D.D., the Priory, Thomastown, County Kilkenny, Ireland. (R.I.P.). Dublin papers please copy. 'In peace at last - in perfect rest.'"
Eliza and Thomas had at least three daughters. A marriage notice in 'The Queenslander' on 14 September 1907 [online] announced: "LOVE-HARE. On August 26th 1907, at St. Stephen's Cathedral, by Rev. J. B. Breen, Luke, second son of Geo. Love, Nambour, to Margaret Catharine, third daughter of Thomas Francis Hare, McDougall Street, Milton.
