There was a dramatic development to-day in the case in which Elizabeth Shannon (64), sought- relief under the Testators' Family Maintenance Act, from the estate of her late husband, Robert Shannon. The widow was found dead at her home in the city. Death was apparently due to gas poisoning, her. head being found in

He died in January last year, and left his estate in equal shares to four children of his- first' marriage. Shannon was her third husband, she had stated. According to the applicant's asser-tions it was claimed that testator's estate totalled £8329, tout that his lia bilities amounted to £87,507. Mrs. Shannon, In an affidavit, al leged that Arthur Shannon, son of her late husband, had said to her: 'You played a fine game of cards, getting my father, but the cards have all fallen around you.' It was further alleged that a few days after- the marriage, her hus-band's son said: -'I don't want to know your wife. I will shoot you, you old cow, for getting married' Later, to-day in tho Equity Court, Mr. Justice Long Innes expressed re-gret at Mrs. Shannon's death, and said that if she' had waited, she -might have had an order to give her something to live for.
