About Elizabeth Barbara Super (Wieliński)

Mrs. John (Elizabeth Barbara) Super, 83, died at the St. Cloud Hospital Saturday, Nov. 17, 1973. She was bornb in Pike Creek Township on Oct. 14, 1890, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Martin (Frances Justina) Wielinski, both born in Binduga, Konarzyny Parish, Chojnice, Poland, in 1848 and 1855, respectively. Her parents homesteaded in Pike Creek Township in 1882 with their first child, Anna, also born in Poland.

Both parents died during Jan. and Feb. 1895, respectively, when Elizabeth was only 4, leaving eight children from Anna, 15 years old, to a newborn infant Agnes. Martin willed his farm to Anna with the understanding that she would keep the family together and raise them. Anna married Joseph Albrecht Rutz about Nov. 1, 1895, and they raised the Wielinski children, except for the infant, and had eleven children themselves. The infant, Agnes, was adopted by neighbors, John and Mary Zioltkowski, who had just lost an infant of their own.

Elizabeth married John Martin Super on June 28, 1910. They spent their married life in Flensburg. John died on Nov. 3, 1956, and they are buried together along with two of their single sons.

Mrs. Super was known for her charity and cheerful disposition, often taking food and flowers to the sick within miles of Flensburg. She often rode a bicycle, very unusual for a middle-aged woman at that time, and later obtained a motor scooter in order to visit the sick and others needing help. She was a truly remarkable and generous woman.

Mrs. Super was survived by sons and daughters, Simon J., Flensburg; Jerome, Mentor, Minn.; Mrs. Lawrence (Mary Jane) Then, St. Stephen and Mrs. Leonard (Betty) Smorin, La Mesa, Calif.; 20 grand-children; six great-grandchildren; and her youngest (and adopted) sister, Agnes Wrycha, Stevens Point, Wis. Three sons preceded her in death, Eugene, Ben and Florian.
