Elizabeth “Betty” Virginia (Moore) Kane

Obituary:

Elizabeth M Kane Betty Kane, 92, of Rahway passed away peacefully Wednesday June 15, 2011 at home. Born in New York City, Mrs. Kane moved with her parents to NJ in 1934, living in Teaneck and Bogota before moving to Rahway in 1936. She graduated from Russell Sage College, Troy, NY in 1940 with a degree in merchandising, and completed graduate work in retailing at NYU in 1941. Upon graduation in 1947 Mrs. Kane worked for Hahne and Co. in Newark. More recently, Mrs. Kane worked in the family business Moore Dispensers, Inc. (formerly Moore Brothers), a janitorial supply company established by her late father , his brothers and their father. Originating in Seneca, Kansas, the business was eventually moved to New York and then to Rahway in 1961. Mrs. Kane was the daughter of the late Roy E. Moore and Helene Herboth Moore. Mr. Moore, Gymnastic Chairman of the3 National AAU Gymnastic Committee, was also vice predident and then president of the International Gymnastic Federation. Mrs. Kane was predeceased by her former husband, John R. Kane, who remained her life long friend until passing in 1997. She is survived by her daughter and son in law , Christopher and Kathy Cottier of Rahway, 1 nephew and 3 nieces, her live in caregiver, Maria Skirzenski, several friends and her cats. Services will be Monday June 20, 2011 at 12:00 Noon in the Pettit-Davis Funeral Home 371 West Milton Ave. Rahway. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Bronx, NY.
