  • David D Frame b. 1745 Augusta Co VA, d. 1810 Braxton Co VA
1772 bought the farm of Benjamin Lewis on Cowpasture River
in now-Bath Co VA, with his youngest brother-in-law Joseph
Hanna who later reneged on the deal and was sued by the
Frames. 1778 named road surveyor for Augusta Co, 1783
given the right to own the county's stillhouse making and
dispensing liquor to residents. Rev. War: Private in Capt.
McCreery's Augusta Co Troops of the VA line. 1797 moved to
Greenbrier(Nicholas) Co VA, later to Little Levels near
now-Hillsboro VA, 1801 moved to Big Birch River near the
mouth of Powell's Creek in now-Nicholas Co WV where they
were some of the earliest land holders. 1805 deeded 560
acres to son John, 114 acres to son Thomas, 354 acres to
son David Jr. He bought 317 acres on Elk River opposite
the mouth of Racoon Creek, willed to his children. Twelve
years later the heirs sold the rights to this land to

him). According to "History of Frametown and vicinity" pub
1830, soon after their marriage they were joined by the
Bodkin (or Burkin or Botkin) brothers, John Bodkin and
Richard Bodkin and Richard's teen bride Elizabeth Hanna.
It is thought Richard Bodkin d. abt 1767 and David D Frame
fell in love with Elizabeth and was accused of adultery by
neighbor James Burnside. David sued Burnside and hired a
young lawyer who had just passed the Virginia Bar, future
president Thomas Jefferson who records Elizabeth's surname
                as Burkin in his casebook
