Elizabeth Dalton was convicted for stealing linen handkerchiefs and sentenced at Middlesex Gaol Delivery to a term of 7 years on 14 September 1785.

One of 263 convicts transported on the Lady Penrhyn which departed January 1787 as part of the First Fleet, she initially cohabited with John Clement who arrived as a seaman on the Lady Penrhyn. A daughter, Frances Hannah was born at sea on voyage, but died in NSW in 1800.

Six children were born to Thomas Arundel, assistant surgeon for the First Fleet, and Elizabeth Dalton before their marriage in 1812 at Windsor NSW.
