About Elizabeth Cass

http://casshistory.blogspot.com/

Elizabeth Green was the daughter of Judge Henry Green and his first wife, Mary Perkins.

Married James Chase 2 Nov 1675.

May have also married Joseph Cass of Hampton, NH.

New Hampshire, Birth Index, 1659-1900, Elizabeth Green, daughter of Henry and Mary Green, was born in Hampton, NH, on the 11th day of the 4th month 1656. This would be adjusted to 11 June 1656.

New Hampshire, Marriage and Divorce Records, 1659-1947, the clerk of Hampton NH record indicates that James Chase Elizabeth Green were married in 1675 on the 2nd day of the 9 month. This would be adjusted to 2 Nov 1675.

Henry Green's will includes the following:

  1. 4 I give unto my daughter Elizabeth Cases three children that she had by James Chase six shillings in money to each of them.
  2. 8 I give unto my daughter Elizabeth Cass ye wife of Joseph Cass, six shillings money she haveing her portion before.

Massachusetts, Town and Vital Records, 1620-1988, Elizabeth and James Chase were married in Nantucket, Mass, on 2 Sep 1675. However, this record appears to be for Elizabeth, the daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Philbrick.

In the will of her father, Henry Green, he has named his three grandchildren through his daughter Elizabeth and her husband, James Chase in item 4 of the will. He also names her again as Elizabeth Cass in item 8 of the will. This will was dated 2 August 1700 , so it appears that Elizabeth was still alive at that time.

It has been suggested that Elizabeth Green was alive at the time of her father's death because she was named in the will. However, careful reading of the will indicates that it was her three children that were provide six shillings in money to each, implying that Elizabeth was no longer alive in 1700
