Elizabeth Clester was born in 1841 in Macedon, Mercer County, Ohio; one of ten children born to William and Ellen (Gibson) Clester.

Elizabeth was united in marriage 08 Nov 1860 in Mercer County, Ohio with William McAfee; one of five children born to John Thomas and Elizabeth (Magee) McAfee.

After the death of his father, William, with his wife and small children, siblings and mother, joined the westward movement to the newly opened Territory in southern Kansas. William and Elizabeth claimed a homestead in Zyba, Sumner County, Kansas.

William and Elizabeth were the parents of five children:

1. Lorinda born 1861 married George Washington Hettrick
2. Elsworth born 1863 married Ida May Oliver
3. Ella born 1868 married George Wallace Knowles
4. Fannie born 1870 married T.F. Prince
5. Thomas date of birth unknown, died young

William passed away 31 Dec 1904 at his home near Zyba, Sumner County, Kansas at the age of 66 years. He was laid to rest in Porter Cemetery, London Township, Sumner County, Kansas.

Elizabeth passed away 28 Aug 1915 in Zyba at the age of 75 years. She was laid to rest in Porter Cemetery with her husband William.
