IV William Carter (1600-1655) and his third wife, Alice Croxton (1599-1670) were the parents of George Carter (1638-1664). George Carter and his wife, Mary Hare, had one child, Elizabeth Carter. Elizabeth Carter married Robert Crofford (1660-1714) and they had two daughters, Elizabeth Crofford and Sarah Crofford. Elizabeth Crofford married Thomas Newsom (1685-1745) and his brother, John Newsom (1674-1745) married Sarah Crofford. The Newsom brothers married the Crofford sisters.
