About Elizabeth Danford
Obituary
Elizabeth, the daughter of Hiram and Rachel Danford, was born March 6, 1832, died March 7th 1909. She united in marriage with Wm. Lashley, September 2, 1852. To this union eleven children were born, of whom ten survive. Rachel R. Ballas of Jackson Ridge, Ohio; George W., of Batesville; Leroy T. of Kennonsburg; Margaret J. Ryan of Pleasant City; Harriet F. Botkins of Sherman, W. Va.; Van A., Samuel P., of Buffalo Or; Isaac J., Lydia C., and John R., at home. One died in infancy. She is also survived by 36 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. The aged father still survives with the children, and is very feeble and is waiting for the hour to come when he can meet her on the other shore. She united with the M.E. church about 1850 and always remained a true follower of her Savior and always saw the bright side of everything and to those in trouble she gave a helping hand and was ready to do her part. She was a dutiful wife and a loving mother and was a woman of excellent (unreadable), honest, kind-hearted and generous to a fault. She bore her sufferings without a murmur. She had been an invalid for over five years and never seemed to get discouraged and always said when the Lord was ready to take her home she was ready. She was a good neighbor loved by all who knew her. Her presence will be greatly missed in the community in which she lived.
