Her Husband's Testament Dative and Inventory

The original testament dative of Robert Dinwiddie of Germiston has not been found. It must have existed, though, for his widow, Elizabeth Cumming, appears to have been confirmed as his executor dative. Some of his assets had been overlooked at the time of the first confirmation but she brought them to the attention of the Commissary on 11 March 1719, at which time he "new again" ratified, approved and confirmed that she was the executor dative decerned and formerly confirmed to her deceased husband. The asset in question was a bond for fifty-six pounds, sixteen shillings, Scots money, dated 25 March 1699, which had been granted to her husband by Colonel Mungo Livingston, portioner of the Kirkton of Kilbryde. James Paull, tanner in Glasgow, acted himself as cautioner for Elizabeth Cumming.
