Charts Descendants of Ellis Cook-6 Generations Philetus Smith, son of Obadiah Smith and Susannah Stephens, was born at Smithtown, Suffolk Co., New York, 24 October 1730.1 He died at Smithtown, 22 December 1800.1

Philetus married (1) Phebe Tredwell, daughter of Timothy Tredwell and Mary Platt, at Smithtown, 8 January 1766;2 he married (2) Elizabeth Smith, daughter of Henry Smith and Ruth Smith, at Smithtown 25 July 1780.3

Philetus Smith left a will dated 14 March 1795, and proved 15 Jan 1801: Bequest, supplies, and rooms to wife Elizabeth, with all she brought at marriage; Bed to each and lands to eldest son Timothy Tredwell and youngest son Elias; Homestead to second son Alexander, which is willed to other sons, if Alexander die without issue.
