About Elizabeth Dupont
She was born near what, at the time, was called Campbell's Station, now Farragut, Knox County, Tn. Death is from Cemeteries of Jackson County Mississippi, 2008 Edition. Note that it indicates that the place of burial is unknown, so this is only a likely cemetery. Came to New Orleans with her mother and siblings in late 1807, following her father. She was married, reportedly November 22, 1824 at Pascagoula, to Jean Baptiste Celestine Dupont, who was reportedly born June 13, 1804 in Mississippi, son of Jean Baptiste DuPont and Maria Rosa Eley. Celestine does not appear after the 1860 census. His mother is buried at Krebs Cemetery. She and sister Nancy wrote their brother, Admiral James/David Farragut during the Civil War years, relating how the blockade was making things difficult. He visited them after the war. Weekly Mississippi Pilot; Jackson, Ms; Saturday July 3, 1875; Page 2 Two sisters of the late Admiral Farragut are now residing at Pascagoula, Madames Nancy Gurlie and Elizabeth Dupont.* Reference: Find A Grave Memorial - SmartCopy: Jul 30 2021, 18:27:37 UTC
