Elizabeth (Ellis) Robeson

Wrote a very detailed Diary from day to day happenings. (Elizabeth Ellis Robeson Diary). This diary covers from the early 1800's to the late 1800's.

Elizabeth Ellis Robeson was a daughter of John Ellis & Mary Kemp Poynter Ellis. She married Samuel Robeson on 25 Mar. 1819. They had 9 children with only 4 sons surviving to adulthood . (1.) Gooderun Davis Robeson ( 1 Feb.1826 - 27 Oct 1850) (2.) Raiford Robert Robeson (23 Aug 1833 - ) became Medical Doctor near Wade, NC in Cumberland Co., NC. (3.) Evander McNair Robeson( 11 Mar.1838 -) CSA Captain of Bladen Guards married Sarah Elmira "Myra" Dunham. They had 8 children. (4.) Alexis Howard Robeson (20 July 1841 - 26 Aug 1862) Pictured here with his mother.

Mrs. Robeson recorded many events of life along the Cape Fear and thoughout Bladen Co., NC. The Diary of Elizabeth Ellis Robeson Bladen Co., NC 1847 - 1866. This Diary was printed by the Bladen Co. Historical Society. A micofilm copy is on file at the NC State Department of Archives & History, Raleigh, NC.
