A BIOGRAPHY OF ELIZABETH CHURCHILL ELLIS, by Larry Overmire (7th great grandson), Aug. 2008:
Elizabeth Churchill was born in Plymouth, Plymouth County, Massachusetts, on Oct. 7, 1687, the daughter of John and Rebecca (Delano) Churchill. She is a distant cousin of Sir Winston Churchill and President Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
On Apr. 6, 1710, at Sandwich, 23-year-old Elizabeth married 30-year-old Joel Ellis, the son of Lt. Matthias Ellis and Mercy Nye.
Joel and Elizabeth had eight children: Joel Jr., John, Samuel, Matthias, Rebecca, Elizabeth, Charles, Thomas.
Joel was a captain in the Massachusetts Militia.
Elizabeth died in Middleboro, April 3, 1753, at the age of 65. She was laid to rest at Cemetery At The Green
