Biography

Elizabeth "Eliza" Bean, born November 25, 1723, in St Stephen's Parish, Cherry Point, Northumberland County, Virginia, lived in German Creek, Grainger County, Tennessee, married Captain George Russell (1720-1796) who was killed in an Indian Raid.
Three of the children of Elizabeth and George married siblings, children of William and Elizabeth (Alfred) Horner:

  • George Rusell, Jr. was in Washington County, Tennessee, in 1778, in Dickson County, in 1804 & 1806; The census shows him in Franklin County, Tennessee, in 1820
  • William Russell, born circa 1750 (both Elizabeth's father, and George's father were named William), died December 13, 1804, in Dickson County, Tennessee. Wife's name was Agnes.
  • Sarah Russell, born 1760, died 1857, in Riota, McMinn County, Tennessee, married Isaac Lane
  • Lydia Russell, born 1764, died 1824, in Rhea County, Tennessee, married Colonel James Roddye, in 1780, in Washington County, Tennessee
  • Mary Russell, born 1767, died 1829, in Jefferson County, Tennessee, where her Will was filed, married Noah Jarnagin, circa 1782
  • Jemima Russell, born 1770, at the Wataugua Settlement, died after 1850 in Perry County, Tennessee, married George Horner, circa 1801
  • Elizabeth Russell, born 1772, at the Wataugua Settlement, died after 1820, in Perry County, Tennessee, married John Horner, Sr. on February7, 1888, in Hawkins, County, Tennessee.
  • Lewis Russell, born 1774, died 1840, in Franklin County, Arkansas, married Esterh Horner on October 21, 1802 When, In the fall of 1796, her husband was killed by Indians in a raidand left in the woods. The male body that is presumed to have been his was found and buried in the cemetery of Bent Creek Baptist Church. That church is located in what later became Whitesburg, in Hamblen County, Tennessee. Hamblen is a small county lying along the left bank of the Holston River, formed from fractions of Jefferson, Grainger and Hawkins Counties. <ref> http://www.tngenweb.org/hamblen/history.htm#Russellville </ref>

Elizabeth was born in 1723. She passed away in 1800.
